These initial holiday strategy tips are what you can be practicing right now. It is why I have said that we are ‘running up to the starting line.’ We are working at making the right choices right now!
Of course, we know we are in the holiday season. Co-workers may feel a need to try out a dessert recipe that ‘sounded soooo good!’ There are already extra social activities that are on the calendar. You may be baking/cooking special family recipes already for an upcoming gathering.
What is a serious-minded individual to do?
#3. Set Realistic Goals.
At the same time: ‘Set the kind of goals that will make something of you to achieve them.’ Jim Rohn
Write them down. Get a partner/accountability partner/coach. OK , this is actually 3 tips rolled into one because each one is so related to the other. The end of the year, specifically the holidays, is typically NOT the best time to attempt to lose weight and inches. However, you can choose to maintain your current weight/size. Look at your goals every day. You can set a goal of walking 3-4 times a week for 15-30 minutes. You can do that. Start today. Make an appointment with yourself to exercise- and keep the appointment.
#4. Practice Self-Discipline in all areas of your life.
Time, finances (and both of these will be tested for sure over the next few weeks!), relationships, career. The practiced habits of self-discipline are sure to carry over into food-control.
Remember this: “Every discipline affects the rest.” Jim Rohn
How do I do this?
A quick reminder: decide what you want to accomplish (‘Begin with the end in mind.’ S. Covey); know why you want to accomplish that goal (feel and connect to the emotion of accomplishing that goal); get an accountability partner/friend/coach who will truly help you stay on track; read your goals every day; exercise self-discipline in all areas of your life.
This is not easy by anyone’s standards: but it is very worthwhile!
These thoughts are good to keep in mind as we are running up to the starting line!
